Our Emergency Department provides
around-the-clock coverage to Reno County and outlying areas. Services
are provided in a 10-bed facility with at least one physician on
duty at all times; a physician and a physician's
assistant on duty from noon to midnight weekdays; and two physicians
on duty noon to midnight weekends. All registered nurses have certification
in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, the Trauma Nursing Core Course,
and the Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course.
Other services provided by the Emergency
Department staff include:
The Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner/Sexual Assault Response Team
responds to victims of sexual assault. The team is composed of law
enforcement officers, advocates for sexual assault victims, and
sexual assault nurse examiners who have advanced education in forensic
examination of sexual assault victims.
Emergency Nurses Cancel Alcohol Related Emergencies (EN CARE)
is a program recommended for junior and high school students. This
45-minute presentation focuses on the risks of drinking and driving.
It is presented by emergency nurses who almost daily see the consequences
of drinking and driving. The program is available to schools, church
groups, and other organizations.
TAKE CARE is a program covering several topics: how alcohol
affects people as they grow older; how alcohol interacts with drugs,
including prescription drugs; and how to take medications safely.
Also included is safety information, especially pedestrian and motor
vehicle safety, and strong encouragement to ALWAYS wear safety belts
when driving or riding in a motor vehicle.
